Stop Making Your Brand Look Like Everyone Else's
The fastest way to blend in is to copy what's already working. Here's how to build a wellness brand people actually remember instead
The online wellness space is starting to look more and more the same.
Trends move fast lately, and it somehow it feels like everyone is pulling inspiration from the same handful of brands. Similar layouts, familiar font pairings, content formats that keep popping up in every niche, and design styles that seem to spread overnight. Before long, everyone’s feeds start feeling a little familiar.
And honestly, it makes sense. I know it can be intimidating to build a brand that takes a different visual approach when someone else’s seems to be working so well. Their posts get shared, their content performs, people save their graphics, and suddenly it feels like following the same formula is the safest option. Why wouldn’t it work for you too?
That’s the mindset I want to challenge today, because I still think authenticity is the best marketing hack out there. The things that make your brand different are usually the things people remember, and in a space where so much content is starting to blur together, being recognizable is one of the biggest advantages you can have. Let’s talk about how to build a brand that feels like you, instead of another version of everyone else:
Welcome to Balanced Branding 🤍

10 ways to build a brand people actually remember
1. stop collecting inspiration and start making decisions
Pinterest boards are great until they become your entire personality. Save what inspires you, then close the tab and decide what actually belongs in your brand. A memorable brand isn’t built by collecting ideas, it’s built by choosing them.
2. use trends as references, not blueprints
There’s nothing wrong with liking a trend. The magic happens when you make it your own instead of recreating it pixel for pixel. Inspiration should spark ideas, not replace them.
3. choose one thing people can recognize instantly
Maybe it’s your typography, your photography style, a certain color, or the way you write your headlines. Give people something that makes them think, “I knew this was your post before I even saw your name.” That’s branding.
4. stop changing your style every month
Your brand doesn’t need a new personality every time a trend shows up on your feed. Give your style enough time to become recognizable before you decide it’s time for another makeover.
5. let your personality show in your writing
The internet doesn’t need another perfectly polished caption that could belong to anyone. Write the way you naturally speak. Your personality is doing a lot more for your brand than you probably realize.
6. share your own perspective, even if it’s different
Your audience can find generic advice anywhere. What they’re really looking for is someone with a point of view. If you have a different way of thinking about something, that’s usually the most interesting thing you could share.
7. stop trying to appeal to everyone
The more you try to make everyone happy, the more your brand starts to lose its shape. The right people aren’t looking for the safest option, they’re looking for the one that feels like it was made for them.
8. design for your audience, not other creators
It’s easy to start making content that impresses other designers, coaches, or marketers. Your future clients are the people who matter. If they understand your message and feel connected to your brand, you’re doing it right.
9. embrace the little quirks that make your brand yours
Maybe you always use a certain phrase. Maybe your layouts break the “rules” a little. Maybe your color palette isn’t what’s trending right now. Those little details are often the reason people remember you instead of scrolling past.
10. build a brand you’d recognize without the logo
Imagine someone removed your logo and username from every post. Would your content still feel unmistakably yours? That’s a fun little test to come back to every few months, and it’s one of the best ways to measure whether your brand is becoming recognizable or just blending into the feed.
Be your authentic self!
The internet is always going to hand you another brand to copy. Tomorrow there’ll be a new design trend, a new content format, a new color palette that suddenly seems to be everywhere. It’s easy to convince yourself that everyone else has figured something out before you have, especially when their posts are getting thousands of likes. That’s usually when brands start losing a little bit of themselves without even realizing it.
What I’ve noticed over the past 3 years of being a wellness creayor myself is that the brands that people really remember aren’t trying to look different every week, and they aren’t trying to keep up with every new trend either. They simply have a clear sense of who they are, and that shows up in everything they create. Their visuals feel consistent, their writing has a personality, and their ideas sound like they came from a real person instead of the same marketing playbook everyone else downloaded.
Don’t get me wrong, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with taking inspiration from brands you admire. Every designer, creator, and business owner does it. The trick is knowing when inspiration has quietly turned into imitation, because that’s usually the moment your brand starts blending into everyone else’s.
Your audience doesn’t need another version of a brand they already follow. They already follow that brand. What they’re looking for is a reason to remember yours. And that’s exactly what authenticity gives you. It isn’t another marketing buzzword or a personality trait you’re supposed to invent. It’s what naturally happens when you stop asking, “How are they doing it?” and start asking, “What feels right for my brand?” That’s where the memorable stuff lives!
